Super Y League players who missed out on reaching the 2017 North American Finals with their club team still have a pathway to Bradenton, Florida.
The 2017 Guest Player Pool opened on Monday, September 11th, giving players on teams that did not receive a bid to the SYL Finals a chance to travel to the event and participate on a different team. In order to be eligible for selection by a SYL Finals-participating team, players must add themselves to the pool by filling out a simple form. Teams can then request for a player from the Guest Player Pool to join them for the SYL Finals in December.
"We are happy to announce the return of the Guest Player Pool for a third consecutive season,” SYL Director Christian Velasquez said. “The North American Finals is a great event. We hope to enable all Super Y League players to experience the fun as we look to expand on last year's success."
In 2016, 174 SYL players registered for the Guest Player Pool. Starting on September 27th, SYL Finals-participating teams can select up to six players from the pool, and the selected players will be notified via email if a team has decided to add them. The last day teams can select players from the Guest Player Pool is November 3rd.
A total of 120 teams will take part in the SYL Finals from Dec. 8-12 at IMG Academy in Bradenton. Group play will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the semifinals kick off on Monday. The finals will cap off the five-day format on Tuesday.
