Plenty of young soccer players created great memories at the 2019 Super Y League Finals, especially those whose teams won national titles. But three individuals received special recognition for their performance on the pitch by earning an invitation to the 2020 USL Experience, hosted by USL Championship club Birmingham Legion FC in April.
FC Virginia U13 Girls
The FC Virginia U13 Girls were one of the most dominant teams at Finals, and Shank was a key cog in the club’s midfield. Contributing on both sides of the ball, Shank helped the team score an incredible 28 goals in five games while conceding just two.
Indiana Elite FC U14 Boys
A winger with excellent pace and goal-scoring ability, Malagon quickly caught the eye of scouts on hand at Finals. His promising skill set and work rate off the ball make him an exciting prospect for the future, at USL Experience and beyond.
Midwest United U15 Boys
Vila was the only goalkeeper selected by Legion FC goalkeeper Matt Van Oekel, a massive compliment from someone who plays the position professionally. Vila had an impressive tournament at Finals, saving a penalty among an array of other top stops.
