TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Y League is excited to announce the addition of FC Pittsburgh, which will join the Midwest Division in 2020.
“The Super Y League has proven to be a very positive vehicle for player enhancement and identification and offers FC Pittsburgh players and others from our area a fantastic opportunity to elevate their game,” said FC Pittsburgh Director of Soccer Operations Chris Karwoski. “The natural evolution of a club requires this upward movement and the Super Y League offers the best pathway for the players in our area.”
“We’re excited to welcome FC Pittsburgh to the Super Y League beginning in 2020,” said Dominic Colarusso, USL Youth League Growth & Development Manager. “Our Midwest Division has further incorporated the Ohio Valley over the past few years, and the addition of FC Pittsburgh will only continue to help shape its landscape for the future.”
The summer platform offered by the Super Y League will help FC Pittsburgh to develop its elite local players by allowing them to compete against top teams from their region. These young players will also have the chance to gain national exposure at events like the Super Y League Finals and the USL Experience.
“Joining Super Y League allows us to add yet another level of development with a highly-rated league, which is a benefit for those players who are serious about soccer,” said Karwoski. “We are very much looking forward to competing against strong regional and national competition outside our area and exposing our players to that, so that they can learn and find success on a higher level.”
The Super Y League is part of United Soccer Leagues, LLC, which also operates USL Championship and USL League One at the professional level and USL League Two at the pre-professional level. Super Y offers a summer platform for elite youth soccer players, with the national Super Y League Finals taking place each December and the USL Experience giving young players the chance to immerse themselves in a professional soccer environment each spring.
