DDYSC's Gill, BYSC's Johnston named this week

With over 10,500 players competing in the Super Y League during the 2018 season, the USL Scouting Network has identified hundreds of boys and girls who have stood out for their clubs.

In our Five Player Friday series, we take a look at five boys and girls who have performed well in the 2018 season and have been recognized by the USL Scouting Network as among the league's top talents.

Here are the featured players for the second edition on Sep. 7, 2018.

FIVE PLAYER FRIDAY - SEP. 7, 2018

JUAN SALINAS

CHICAGO INFERNO U13 BOYS

Record: 7-1-0, 21 pts - 1st in Midwest B Division
Goals: 4
Assists: 4
Summary: While helping guide the Chicago Inferno U13 Boys to the top of the Midwest B Division, Salinas has been a leader in the attack. His four goals and four assists are good for more than a quarter of the team's total production, showing a nose for goal himself and for finding his teammates in scoring positions.

LOLA ABRAHAM

PITTSBURGH RIVERHOUNDS SC U14 GIRLS

Record: 5-1-0, 15 pts - 1st in Mid Atlantic A Division
Goals: 11
Assists: 1
Summary: One of the most prolific goal-scorers in any age group, Abraham has been stellar in front of goal for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC U14 Girls. Her 11 tallies are good for the lead among all U14 Girls players nationwide and account for more than a third of the team's 31 total scores.

ETHAN GILL

DDYSC WOLVES U15 BOYS

Record: 9-0-0, 27 pts - 1st in South Atlantic Division
Goals: 9
Assists: 6
Summary: While helping guide the DDYSC Wolves U15 Boys to a perfect 9-0-0 record, Ethan Gill has cemented himself as one of the best all-around attackers nationwide. In the fiercely competitive region, Gill has produced nine goals and six assists, contributing to 15 of his team's 37 total goals, both finishing chances himself and setting them up. His efforts have helped the club to the top of the division in 2018.

ASHBY JOHNSTON

BYSC CORONA UNITED U17 GIRLS

Record: 7-1-0, 21 pts - 1st in Southwest B Division
Goals: 12
Assists: 1
Summary: Trailing only the previously featured London Lewis in production among U17 Girls, Johnston has nonetheless been one of the most prominent attackers across the country. Leading the BYSC Corona United U17 Girls to the top of the inaugural Southwest Division standings, Johnston has produced 12 goals and an assist to contribute to nearly half of her team's goals this season.

MATTEO MARRA

WESTCHESTER FLAMES 01 U19 BOYS

Record: 4-4-2, 14 pts - 4th in North Atlantic A Division
Goals: 8
Assists: 6
Summary: While the Westchester Flames U19 Boys have battled to an even 4-4-2 record in an incredibly difficult North Atlantic A Division, Matteo Marra has been the driving force of the club. With eight goals and six assists, Marra has contributed to 14 total goals from the team's 29 recorded, including a two-goal, four-assist performance against the Long Island Rough Riders U19 Boys.
