GPS Michigan's Hemminger, Arundel's Marquina among players named this week

With over 10,500 players competing in the Super Y League during the 2018 season, the USL Scouting Network has identified hundreds of boys and girls who have stood out for their clubs.

In our Five Player Friday series, we take a look at five boys and girls who have performed well in the 2018 season and have been recognized by the USL Scouting Network as among the league's top talents.

Here are the featured players for the second edition on Aug. 31, 2018.

FIVE PLAYER FRIDAY - AUG. 31, 2018

AMY ANGEL, MIDFIELDER

NORTHERN VIRGINIA SC U13 GIRLS

Record: 6-0-0, 18 pts - 1st in Mid Atlantic B Division
Goals: 1
Assists: 1
Summary: While helping Northern Virginia SC U13 Girls to the top of their division with a perfect record, Angel has put her skills on full display. While her tactical and physical abilities are among the division's best, her technical and psychological skills elevate her to a nationally recognized level of play.

TANNER CALZADO, FORWARD

ARUNDEL SA U14 BOYS

Record: 2-3-1, 7 pts - 5th in Mid Atlantic B Division
Goals: 3 (team-leader)
Assists: 0
Summary: Calzado has lead his team from the front, producing well with a team-leading three goals over the 2018 SYL season. His technical and tactical abilities are on a national level, and his psychological and physical abilities are widely considered even better - at a top level among the nation's best.

CLARE KOSTOLANSKY, MIDFIELDER

EVOLUTION SC 1 U15 GIRLS

Record: 6-2-2, 20 pts - 2nd in Midwest A Division
Goals: 1
Assists: 0
Summary: While featuring in the heart of the midfield for the Evolution SC 1 U15 Girls, Kostolansky has elevated her team to one of the best in their age group. Kostolansky's technical, tactical and psychological abilities are consistently the best on the field during her matches, with her physical ability among the division's best.

GIOVANNI MARQUINA, FORWARD

ARUNDEL SA U17 BOYS

Record: 3-4-1, 10 pts - 4th in Mid Atlantic Division
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Summary: While actually belonging to the 2004 (U15) age group, Marquina has played up with the Arundel SA U17 Boys due to his strong ability. His psychological ratings are top in the division, while his technical and physical abilities are even better. However, it is Marquina's tactical abilities that truly shine, with his vision ranking among the nation's best.

ASHLEY HEMMINGER, FORWARD

GPS MICHIGAN U19 GIRLS

Record: 3-1-2, 11 pts - 3rd in Midwest Division
Goals: 7 (team-leader)
Assists: 0
Summary: While helping GPS Michigan U19 Girls compete in an incredibly tough Midwest Division, Hemminger has been a leader in the team's attack. Her physical, technical and tactical skill-set have enabled Hemminger to find the back of the net consistently, leading the team with seven of their 19 total goals this season.
