Istria's Bustos, Calvert Elite's Lewis among players named this week

With over 10,500 players competing in the Super Y League during the 2018 season, the USL Scouting Network has identified hundreds of boys and girls who have stood out for their clubs.

In our Five Player Friday series, we take a look at five boys and girls who have performed well in the 2018 season and have been recognized by the USL Scouting Network as among the league's top talents.

Here are the featured players for the inaugural edition on Aug. 24, 2018.

FIVE PLAYER FRIDAY - AUG. 24, 2018

CONNOR BLAKE, FORWARD

ATLANTA FIRE UNITED REAL MADRID U12 BOYS

Record: 6-2-2, 20 pts - 3rd in South Atlantic A Division
Goals: 7 (team-leader)
Assists: 2 (team-leader)
Summary: Identified as a national-level prospect in terms of physical ability, Blake also shows above-average characteristics in technical, tactical and psychological areas of the game. His seven goals and two assists both lead Atlanta Fire United Real Madrid U12 Boys, who have amassed an impressive 6-2-2 record in a highly-competitive division.

SAVANNAH STYRON, MIDFIELDER

SMYRNA IMPACT UNITED U13 GIRLS

Record: 2-3-1, 7 pts - 5th in South Atlantic Division
Goals: 3 (team-leader)
Assists: 2 (team-leader)
Summary: A talented young midfielder for Smyrna Impact United U13 Girls, Styron leads the team in both goals - with three - and assists - with two. Scouts have identified her strongest areas as physicality and technical ability, with both skills being rated as among the best in her division, while also displaying above-average tactical and psychological skills.

ISAAC DUMNEY, FORWARD

SHORELINE FC U15 BOYS

Record: 3-4-0, 9 pts - 6th in North Atlantic Division
Goals: 8 (team-leader)
Assists: 4 (team-leader)
Summary: While appearing in five matches for Shoreline FC U15 Boys this season, Dumney impressed in a short time, scoring all of his team-leading eight goals in the final three matches of the season - all resulting in wins. In addition, he has tallied four assists - also good for the team-lead - and is rated as a national-level talent in the technical, tactical, psychological and physical areas of his game.

LONDON LEWIS, FORWARD

CALVERT ELITE SC U17 GIRLS

Record: 8-0-0, 24 pts - 1st in Mid Atlantic B Division
Goals: 15 (team-leader)
Assists: 6 (team-leader)
Summary: With Calvert Elite SC U17 Girls among the nation's elite teams - going undefeated through eight matches with a +37 goal-differential - Lewis stood out as a top-tier talent among a team full of them. Her 15 goals were scored at a rate of nearly two per match and Lewis accumulated an additional six assists. While her tactical, physical and technical abilities are among the nation's best, her psychological strengths elevate her status as an elite youth prospect with a bright future.

MIGUEL BUSTOS, FORWARD

ISTRIA SC U19 BOYS

Record: 8-0-2, 26 pts - 1st in North Atlantic A Division
Goals: 9 (team-leader)
Assists: 5 (team-leader)
Summary: Istria SC has impressed in its first SYL season, particularly at the U19 Boys level where the club went unbeaten to finish atop the North Atlantic A Division. Bustos was a huge factor in the team's success, scoring nine and assisting five of the team's 38 goals - accounting for more than a third of its total production. While his tactical, psychological and physical rating are national-level, his technical ability is recognized as among the league's best overall and represents his strongest area.
