DDYSC alum and Atlanta United 2 star to face Tigres UANL U20

The Super Y League will be represented in tonight’s MLS Homegrown Game as part of its All-Star week in Atlanta, Georgia, with several alumni set to compete against Tigres UANL U20, including Atlanta United 2 star Lagos Kunga.

Set to kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on the Univision Deportes Network and Twitter, the 2018 MLS Homegrown Game features the best young talent from around MLS, coached by Atlanta United Academy director Tony Annan, who is acutely familiar with a pair of talented youngsters on the team.

“It’s always wonderful to see talented SYL players take their talents to the next level and succeed,” said SYL Director Christian Velasquez. “Lagos is a shining example of what national-scale events like the SYL Finals and USL Experience can offer to young athletes in the league. We wish him the best tonight and look forward to watching him take the field.”

Kunga competed in the Super Y League with the DDYSC Wolves, making an appearance and scoring at the 2015 SYL Finals before earning an invitation to the inaugural USL Experience, hosted by FC Cincinnati in 2016. He’s joined by teammate and fellow SYL alum Andrew Carleton, who recently made his first career MLS start for Atlanta United and has made five appearances total so far this season.

Tune in on Twitter or the Univision Deportes Network at 8 p.m. ET to watch the 2018 MLS Homegrown Game.
