Leading international manufacturer becomes Official Metal Detection Supplier

TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer Leagues, LLC, announced today it had entered a multi-year partnership with Garrett, establishing the international manufacturer as the Official Metal Detection Supplier for all related properties, including the United Soccer League, USL’s Division III, the Premier Development League (PDL) and the Super Y League. The partnership adds another member to the USL’s Preferred Supplier Program, through which the league has continued its on-and-off-field growth via partnerships with leading businesses across a broad spectrum of professional league services.

“We are thrilled to bring on Garrett as our Official Metal Detection Supplier,” said USL President Jake Edwards. “The issue of security is top of mind for the league and our teams. Garrett is recognized around the world as a leader in metal detection products, and with their extensive history, they will be an excellent resource as we continually look to improve the game day experience.”

“Garrett is pleased to bring more than 50 years of metal detection experience to the United Soccer Leagues,” said Garrett CEO Steve Novakovich. “Our advanced products will offer the safety and peace of mind to soccer fans and teams that Garrett has been furnishing other premier sporting facilities for decades.  To achieve this, we have engineered a superior line of metal detectors including the Super Scanner® hand-held and our advanced PD 6500i™ walk-through, giving you practical solutions for your security checkpoint installations.”

The USL will oversee the expansion of an estimated 30–40 new franchises at the second and third divisions of professional soccer over the next five years, which will create opportunities for potential suppliers and vendors to support this growth.

Through its Preferred Supplier Program, the USL connects suppliers with new franchise owners and existing USL clubs in order to deliver the best possible experience for fans across North America. Preferred suppliers are “Best in Class” companies that provide services and products to professional franchises and stadium developers and must meet the USL’s strict quality standards. The USL is currently in discussions with suppliers that support stadium development, as well as the buildout of team front offices and operations.
