New division set to launch in 2018, BYSC Corona United one of five founding member clubs

With the recent announcement of the new Southwest Division, which will launch in 2018, BYSC Corona United are set to be one of five founding member clubs in the region.

“The addition of BYSC Corona United to the new Southwest Division gives youth players a home familiar with the Super Y League,” said Dominic Colarusso, the USL’s Associate of Business Development. “The club’s philosophy of providing a safe environment for the growth of young athletes into future stars is in complete alignment with our vision as a league, and we believe that BYSC Corona United will continue to succeed as a member of our new Wes Coast presence.”

Established as Corona United in 1992, BYSC Corona United has been the home of many talented athletes over the club’s more than 25 years of experience in developing players. The club rebranded for a time as Blues Youth Soccer Club in association with a former USL club, Los Angeles Blues, giving it a familiarity with the USL organization that will help the other Southwest Division clubs acclimate to the Super Y League.

“As the soccer landscape is in constant motion, it is important for us to be able to consistently evolve without losing focus on what’s the most important factor in the game- the ability to give a player and his/her family a positive soccer experience; one that will ensure growth, safety and holistic development,” said Shayon Jalayer, BYSC Corona United’s President and Director of Coaching. “The model that the Super Y League has offered, and specifically with the founding members of the Southwest Division, will be truly special.”

“BYSC is excited to be associated again with the USL and its youth league, the Super Y League,” Jalayer said. “We feel that the Super Y League has presented us an opportunity to participate within a league and division that has a shared vision of individual player development, meaningful competition and above all a pathway to the highest levels of play.”

A part of United Soccer Leagues, LLC, which also operates the Division II USL, the new third-division league and Premier Development League, the Super Y League features a summer platform with an annual North American Championship in December.
