TAMPA, Fla. - After the recent announcement of Manhattan SC, the Super Y League further grows its presence in the five boroughs with the addition of Brooklyn City F.C. The league’s newest member club will begin play in 2018 as part of the North Atlantic Division.
“New York City hosts one of the largest populations of youth soccer players in the country, and the addition of Brooklyn City F.C. allows the Super Y League to afford more opportunities to athletes in the area,” said Dominic Colarusso, the USL’s Associate of Business Development. “The addition of Brooklyn City F.C. allows us to provide another developmental home for the many thousands of young soccer players in Kings County.”
Joining the Super Y League will allow Brooklyn City F.C. to continue to match the ambition of its players and staff, on behalf of their local Brooklyn communities, who desire a higher level of competition on a broader scale. The league’s summer platform, combined with events such as the Super Y League Finals and USL Experience, will enhance players’ individual and collective development, while allowing them to compete against top teams throughout the region.
“On behalf of Brooklyn City F.C., I was thrilled to receive the news regarding our acceptance into the Super Y League for the upcoming 2018 season,” said Brooklyn City F.C. founder Jesse DeLorenzo. “Becoming a Super Y League member club immediately enhances our club’s profile in the local soccer community, and bolsters our youth development platform by offering a competitive option for top players over the summer.”
“We are fully committed to providing a complete pathway within our club, for competitive female and male players in Brooklyn, as they rise from the early grassroots levels up through our youth teams, and eventually to a Brooklyn City F.C. first team and/or the college level,” DeLorenzo said. “We feel that the Super Y League is an important piece of this progression.”
A part of United Soccer Leagues, LLC, which also operates the Division II USL, the new third-division league and Premier Development League, the Super Y League features a summer platform with an annual North American Championship in December.
