TAMPA, Fla. – Helping grow the Super Y League’s Florida presence, Miami AC will begin play in the league in 2018 in the Southeast Division.

“We’re thrilled to add a club with the history of Miami AC to our growing Southeast presence,” said Dominic Colarusso, the USL’s Associate of Business Development. “Miami AC has a strong community presence dating back over a decade in Southern Florida. We’re excited for the opportunities the club can provide to young players in the area.”

Established in 2002 as Real Kondor SC, Miami AC was founded by Club President Malcolm Gomez to compete in local leagues, tournaments and cups. Now the club aims to grow its regional presence and provide opportunities for players on the national stage. With an emphasis on its local community, Miami AC is dedicated to providing a home for players and giving them the best training and resources available.

The club will host matches at Curtis Park in Miami, Florida, with Amelia Earheart Park serving as a secondary home. Miami AC’s ongoing first team will provide a destination for youth players to continue their progression towards the collegiate and professional level.

“The Super Y League will provide us an opportunity to play in a new, national competition that will push Miami AC to become a better club,” said Gomez. “We look forward to the opportunity to play in high-level competition and give our players a chance to showcase their talents on a national stage.”

A part of United Soccer Leagues, LLC, which also operates the Division II USL, the new third-division league and Premier Development League, the Super Y League features a summer platform with an annual North American Championship in December.
