BRADENTON, Fla. – In an entertaining match to close out play on the opening day of Super Y Finals, OKC Energy FC proved just a little too strong for Nationals in U12 girls group play, winning the match 3-0.

OKC started the match well, and after some initial forays opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a beautiful shot from distance. Addison Roberts received the ball in space, looked up, and hit a powerful shot, just over the keeper to get a perfect start for Energy FC.

Strong defense from Nationals kept OKC out, forcing the players wide, and cutting down on the shooting chances. When the chances did come, they came from distance, and in a howling breeze those shots were sailing well away from goal.

Nationals started the second half brightly trying to pull the goal back to level the scores, attacking from the opening whistle. In the 32nd minute Chelsey Chambliss made a strong, long run at goal, finishing with a  shot which was well saved.

OKC Energy FC doubled its lead in the 39th minute as Rakayla Coulter found space, wide left of goal, and made a strong run into the box. Cutting into the box, Coulter was able to cross the ball across the face of goal into the back of the net.

With a two goal lead, OKC didn’t sit back, as it continued the attack, looking for chances to extend the lead further. But for all that hard work could not find the back of the net, with the Nationals defense forcing most of the shots to come from distance, the match ending 3-0.
