TAMPA, Fla. – Established in 1975, Port Washington Soccer Club has joined the Super Y League's North Atlantic Division ahead of the 2017 season. The club will play its matches in Port Washington, New York.
“We are excited to have Port Washington join the Super Y League for 2017," USL Director of Business Development Joel Nash said. "They will bring experience on the coaching side and competitive teams to enhance the North Atlantic Division. We look forward to seeing their club grow and compete through the league.”
Port Washington SC is led by President Eddie Romero and Director of Coaching Gerneil Lorne.
"We are excited about the special and unique opportunities that the Super Y will provide to Port Washington Soccer Club," Romero said. "The Super Y's progressive approach to player development is the paramount priority for our members and the best platform to compete and develop elite players."
Port Washington SC joins the Super Y League as a member alongside additions Houston Texans Soccer Club, FC SESA , St. Mary’s Soccer, Davidsonville Athletic Association, Lonestar Soccer Club, Vienna Youth Soccer, Harrisburg City Islanders, Georgia Storm, Athletic Jaier Futbol Club, Crystal Lake Force, Bethesda SC, Lakeland FC, TSC Hurricane, Liverpool FC International Academy Texas, FC Wichita, Tampa Bay United, Woodhaven SC and Braden River SC.
Founded in 1999, the Super Y League is a part of United Soccer Leagues, LLC, which also operates the Division II USL and Premier Development League. The league provides approximately 10,000 players and more than 500 clubs an exclusive experience through its advanced player tracking, strong development resources, college soccer connections and an established player pathway including the Regional Scouting Series and USL Experience.
The Super Y League features a summer platform, while the annual North American SYL Finals take place in December.
