FC Wichita Becomes Member of SYL’s Mid South Division

Among group, including Liverpool-Texas, joining new SYL division ahead of 2017 season

TAMPA, Fla. – The Super Y League’s Mid South Division continues to grow with the addition of FC Wichita, set to begin play in 2017.

“Having FC Wichita as a member club within the Super Y League further strengthens the Mid South Division and provides a key platform for youth development in the largest city in Kansas.” USL Director of Business Development Joel Nash said. “FC Wichita and its leadership has strong ambitions to connect the city by unifying the youth landscape in the area and we’re excited to be another big step in that process.”

Founded in 2013, FC Wichita strives to improve the game on the local level, focusing on technical training, purposeful counter-attacking and possession.

"I speak for all our staff when I say we are very excited to partner with the Super Y League and these fine clubs inside our conference,” FC Wichita CEO and Managing Partner Blake Shumaker said. “After numerous discussions, we have no doubt that the Mid South will strive to become a model division for all of the Super Y league, bringing top quality to every event throughout the summer of 2017."

FC Wichita joins Liverpool FC International Texas as members set to compete in the Mid South Division starting in 2017. The two Mid South members join Tampa Bay UnitedWoodhaven SCBraden River SC and Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC as new SYL-member clubs for next season.

Founded in 1999, The Super Y League features a summer platform, while the annual SYL North American Finals take place in December. The SYL is the country's longest-running national youth league, providing approximately 10,000 players and more than 95 clubs an exclusive experience through its advanced player tracking, strong development resources, college soccer connections and an established player pathway including the Regional Scouting Series and USL Experience.
