Queens-based club set to compete in 2017 season

TAMPA, Fla. – The Super Y League continues to grow for the 2017 season as FC Woodhaven, based out of Queens, New York, has become a member club.

FC Woodhaven has built a reputation on player development, with players starting as young as three years old continuing on to Under-19 travel teams in the club. FC Woodhaven currently competes at the Southern Fields Complex in Ozone Park, New York.

“The Super Y League is excited to have FC Woodhaven as part of our membership and believe the club will be a welcome addition to our highly competitive North Atlantic Division heading into next season,” said Christian Velasquez, Manager of Youth League Operations for the Super Y League. “Giving players opportunities to compete in the Super Y League during the summer further strengthens FC Woodhaven’s strong reputation for providing avenues for player development.”

Founded in 1989, FC Woodhaven joins Braden River SC and Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC as member clubs set to compete in 2017.

“The Super Y League has always been a goal for us,” FC Woodhaven Sporting Director Anthony DiCocco said. “After years of developing players and coaches, we are now rewarded with the acceptance into a league that will further enhance our players, teams and overall club development.

“Being a part of the Super Y adds another pyramid to our Player Development Growth. Players will now be exposed to an environment of a professionalized youth academy system competing against teams across our region. We are now ready and excited to take this next step in 2017.”

The Super Y League now provides 93 youth clubs a unique experience through its advanced player tracking, an established pathway with the Regional Scouting Series and USL Experience and opportunity to compete for a North American Championship. The Super Y League is the best-operated youth league in North America, utilizing a professional, full-time staff with strong youth development resources and college soccer relations.
