SYL alumni make moves to advance their soccer careers

TAMPA, Fla.- The Super Y League (SYL) has no shortage of successful alumni with players like Tyler Adams, Brooks Thompson and Joey Dezart in the SYL Hall of Fame. With youth players all around the country working to reach the professional level, it is critical to begin competing at a higher level at a younger age to define unique soccer skills. For these alumni, the Super Y League allowed them to test their soccer grit among the nation’s best. Ultimately, only a few will reign supreme and earn chances to advance their soccer careers beyond youth play.

The following SYL alumni have continued their soccer careers beyond the youth realm and into collegiate play with hopes of reaching their highest potential within the game.

What did you enjoy most about the SYL and how did it help you to develop as a player?

“What I enjoyed most about the SYL was that it brought the joy back into soccer through good competition but also unforgettable experiences. My team and I are from northern VA , so coming down to sunny Sarasota in December for the tournament was always so much fun. I made so many experiences and friendships on those trips that I will never forget. The facilities at IMG were beautiful and I was always appreciative of the amount of commodities they offered for the players before, during, and after games.

As a player SYL allowed me to sharpen and fine tune my skills during the summer and be prepared for club soccer in the fall. I always looked forward to SYL because I knew I would stay in game shape but also get to enjoy the healthy and friendly competition.”
