Club will compete in the Midwest Division beginning in 2021

TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Y League announced Thursday the addition of Michigan Fire Juniors to the league’s Midwest Division, where the club will compete beginning in the 2021 season.

“We’re very excited to welcome Michigan Fire Juniors to the Super Y League,” said USL Manager of Youth League Growth and Development Dominic Colarusso. “The organization brings a stellar track record of player development to the league, and we’re confident that the Super Y competition platform will bolster the top-notch experience that Fire Juniors offers its players.”

The Fire Juniors are a youth affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire FC. Founded in 2004, the Fire Juniors have since become a well-respected organization both regionally and nationally. The club aims to foster a culture of excellence both on and off the field, and has created a development pathway to help local players advance from the grassroots level through elite youth programs up to collegiate and professional soccer.

“I am extremely excited about our acceptance into the Super Y league,” said Michigan Fire Juniors Executive Director of Coaching Stuart Collins. “To be a part of such a long-standing and prestigious program is a testament to our players and our staff that have worked so hard in the pursuit of continued development.”

Joining the Super Y League will allow Michigan Fire Juniors teams to continue their development through the league’s summer competition platform, and strive to reach the nationwide Super Y Finals at the end of each season.

“[Super Y] gives us an opportunity to work with our players for a longer period of time over the year and extend our programming through the summer months,” said Collins. “These additional contact hours with our players will be invaluable in enhancing their overall individual development. We are looking forward to watching our teams compete against other elite clubs in the Midwest, and we can't wait to get going in the summer of 2021.”
