BRADENTON, Fla. – The Austin Texans won a five goal thriller 3-2 over DDYSC in the U13 Boys to open day two of the Super Y Finals at IMG Academy on Saturday morning.

The Austin Texans started the match well, playing most of the opening moments of the first half, and the pressure told in the fourth minute. A corner swung into the box caught out the DDYSC defense, nearly resulting in an Olympico but it was accidently put into the net by DDYSC defender Bryuan Zetenia attempting to clear.

In the eighth minute the Texans thought they’d doubled the lead as they bundled the ball over the line, following a long free kick. But that goal was denied as the assistant referee raised the flag for a good offside call.

One minute later the goal did come, again from a long free kick, helped by the windy conditions, the ball from just inside the DDYSC half. That long ball found Alan Rivera just outside the box, allowing him to shoot to the far post, just over the keeper and in off the post.

DDYSC found its way back into the match in the final stages of the first half, but with the wind blowing into the players faces it was difficult to get power on the shots, keeping it 2-0 at halftime.

The goal back into the match came in the 42nd minute as DDYSC set up a thrilling finish thanks to some good follow up play. The Texans keeper made a good save on the initial shot, but the follow up play was good, Tomas Morales running on to the ball and scoring with a good tap-in.

In the 64th minute DDYSC got its equalizer as a low freekick from Zetenia curled around the wall, along the ground, beating the keeper and locking the scores at two.

That score only lasted three minutes as Juan Ramirez was able to make a run into the box, being afforded just too much space. Ramirez took advantage and calmly buried his shot to restore the Austin Texans lead.
