BRADENTON, Fla. – The Super Y League Finals kicked off on Friday with FA Euro and Toronto Lynx doing battle in the boys under 18 opener. In a thrilling match, FA Euro came from behind twice to claim the draw at IMG Academy.

It was end-to-end soccer for the opening minutes as the two teams traded blows in an absorbing affair, with both teams showing their potential for the tournament ahead. The first shot came from Toronto Lynx in the sixth minute with Marcelo Polar getting a header away but right at the keeper, an early chance to build confidence.

In the ninth minute Toronto Lynx opened the scoring after some nice passing movement from the Lynx paid off. A good ball out wide was crossed in by Spencer Barber for Christian Buccella who made a deep run from midfield and was able to bundle the ball over the line.

That goal pushed the Lynx forward and only two minutes later they nearly doubled their lead, only denied by some good goalkeeper. Geman Avetisov managed to get down well, at full stretch to make the save, keeping it down to 1-0.

A foul just inside the box in the 22nd minute gave FA Euro the chance to equalize, with the penalty dispatched by Daniel Kazberuk. Christopher Banfi did well in the Lynx goal but just missed it, the penalty just out of his reach.

Toronto Lynx restored their lead in the 35th minute after the ball was worked out to the wing to Danyaal Irfan who cut into the box and shot. His shot beat the keeper but bounced off the post, falling to team mate Sebastian Guerrieri who had a tight angle but managed to hit a strong shot across the face of goal to make it 2-1.

In the last minute of the first half FA Euro equalized for the second time when Sory Konale sent in a good ball to Alan Ponieman, who made no mistake, putting the chance away for a 2-2 score at half time.

The second half started just as tight, with the teams battling hard for possession and chances, but both defenses held strong. Chances were limited throughout the half as neither side wanted to lose the opening match.

There were few chances throughout the second half, and the teams ended up having to split the points in a thrilling match to open the tournament.
