After three years of play in the Super Y League, Maria Andujar is ready to take part in the league's pinnacle event – the USL Experience.

The midfielder was selected for the second edition of the elite player program, which will be hosted by the United Soccer League's San Antonio FC from Thursday to Sunday, after shining in the 2016 Super Y League regular season and at the Regional Scouting Series.

Andujar, who was named to the SYL National Player Pool in August, plays for Atlanta Metros FC, and the club is no stranger to the USL Experience. While Andujar is the first player from Metros FC to be selected for the event, Girls Coaching Director Ricky Clarke took part in the inaugural USL Experience in Cincinnati.

"The USL experience is truly unique," Clarke told SYLSoccer.com. "It blends player education, training and match-day methods all into one experience. The facilities, coaching staff and support staff were outstanding. This experience shows children there is a pathway to the pros."

Clarke, who holds a U.S. Soccer Federation "A" License, among other distinguished coaching licenses, noticed the talent and drive Andujar showed last Super Y League campaign and is excited to see her be a part of the one-of-a-kind opportunity.

"Super Y League offers a stage for players to continue playing soccer year-round," Clarke said. "The players in our club love this time of year. Our Super Y program offers the perfect platform for players to accelerate their development."

A member of the United Soccer Leagues, which also operates the Division II USL and Premier Development League, the Super Y League provides approximately 10,000 players and more than 90 clubs an exclusive experience through its advanced player tracking, strong development resources and college soccer connections. The league utilizes a summer platform, while the annual North American Finals takes place in December.

SYL: What has been your overall experience playing in the Super Y League?

MA: Every year, Super Y has been fun and competitive. I’ve enjoyed it very much.

SYL: What aspects do you most enjoy about the league?

MA: Playing with different people and having different coaches.

SYL: What are you most looking forward at the 2017 USL Experience?

MA: I’m really excited to just get an understanding of what it takes to be a pro – the training and the high-level games.

SYL: What do you hope to learn at the 2017 USL Experience?

MA: I’ve always wanted to go pro, and I hope this drives me even more to be the best I can be. I am hoping to learn about the preparation, work and commitment needed, which I am more than willing to give for the sport that I love.

SYL: Do you want to play collegiately, and if so, how has the Super Y League helped you prepare for that next chapter?

MA: Yes, playing in college is a goal. Super Y gives me more exposure and the opportunity to play at a higher level.

SYL: What do you enjoy most about playing with your SYL club?

MA: They always have a good team with some great girls. The coaches are always encouraging and have helped make me a better player.

SYL: Have you competed at the Super Y League North American Finals?

MA: I’ve competed twice, once with my team, Atlanta Metros, and once as a guest player for Sunrise Sting. Each North American Finals was a great experience. The things I most enjoyed about the Finals: the amazing complex, IMG, that the teams have been very good and competitive and the great professional atmosphere.
