TAMPA, Fla. – Set to play in the Mid Atlantic Division, Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS) has been named a Super Y League member ahead of the 2017 regular season.

“We are thrilled to have Vienna Youth Soccer join the Super Y League because the club’s mission is to provide a high-quality experience for its players – which aligns with our league's primary goals,” said Matt Reda, Super Y League Marketing Manager. “By becoming a Super Y League member, Vienna Youth Soccer has provided a platform for all of its players to improve their game.”

Founded in 1974 and based in Vienna, Virginia, the club will play its home matches at Oakton High School.

“We’re very excited to join such a well-respected and nationally prominent league that will provide our players an enhanced development pathway,” VYS VP of Travel Soccer Simon Hamilton said, “and help build our club’s stature in the D.C. metropolitan area youth soccer scene.”

“Joining the Super Y League provides our players with high-quality competition during the summer months,” VYS Director of Coaching Travel U13-19 Michel Vanderhart said. “This addition to our programming will allow us to offer an enhanced player pathway right here in Vienna. The experience will benefit the development of both our players and our coaching staff. The program will also help our club with the retention of existing players and with growing our base.”

Founded in 1999, the Super Y League is a part of the United Soccer Leagues, which also operates the Division II USL and Premier Development League, and focuses on the development ages of 10-18 for both boys and girls.

“We are excited about the opportunity Super Y will provide our players, coaches and families,” VYS Director of Coaching Travel U9-12 Kevin James said. “In this environment, there is endless possibility to not only grow as individuals, but also as teams and a club. Super Y has demonstrated a commitment to associate with the best individuals and competition available. We believe strongly in their proven model and look forward to becoming a part of the League.”

Featuring a summer platform with a North American Finals in December, the Super Y League provides a unique experience to approximately 500 teams and 10,000 players through the Elite Player Pathway, which includes the Regional Scouting Series and USL Experience.
