Bolsters South Atlantic Division; will begin play in 2017

TAMPA, Fla. – The Super Y League officially announced on Tuesday the Georgia Storm as a new member club set to compete in the 2017 season.

“Our South Atlantic Division has proven to house quality players, evidenced by many of our Georgia-based clubs winning titles at the Super Y League Finals over the years,” Matt Reda, Manager of Youth League Operations for the United Soccer League, said. “By joining the Super Y League, the Georgia Storm have provided a quality platform for West Georgia players to continue their development while also giving players opportunities for national exposure.”

The Storm are led by Josh Bivens, who has served as the Academy Director since 2014. Bivens holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” license and has been coaching in West Georgia since 2005, winning a SYL North American Finals title in 2012 working alongside current Storm President Bill Rucker.

"With entry into USL's Super Y League, the Georgia Storm are incredibly excited to add a new dimension to our young club,” Bivens said. “By competing within this quality league, the benefit to our players and coaches is enormous as the club continues to grow its profile with player development at the core of our philosophy.

“We are most looking forward to the excellent development opportunities that will be provided to our club’s player base by competing against top players in this region. The quality of competition should provide an intense, focused environment for our players to excel.”
