TAMPA, Fla. – A total of 72 Super Y League players, including Atlanta Fire United's Sofia Black and DDYSC's Katie Mallory, have been sent invitations to the 2017 USL Experience, hosted by San Antonio FC from March 30-April 2.
Invitations to this year's event, which have been sent via mail, are based on outstanding achievements and performances in the SYL Elite Player Pathway, which includes the Regional Scouting Series. Players who performed at a high level were identified into the SYL National Player Pool, and 72 individuals have been further identified as top players in their respective age groups.
Black and Mallory were selected by San Antonio FC Head Coach Darren Powell at the 2016 SYL North American Finals in Bradenton, Florida.
Through the Super Y League’s relationship with the United Soccer League, operators of the Division II USL as well as the Premier Development League, USL Experience players will receive unprecedented, behind-the-scenes access into the life of a professional soccer player in North America. Players will prepare, train and compete like a pro, while food, gear and room and board are provided to the players at no additional cost. The USL Experience offers those invited the opportunity to interact with professional players and coaching staff, as well as access to professional training facilities.
Players who receive an invitation must register to attend before Jan. 23. Players who do not register before this date will forfeit their invitation to the 2017 USL Experience. In addition, players who are unable to attend must notify the SYL staff via the registration form.
