Players can apply starting Sept. 19; SYL Finals teams can select players from Oct. 3 to Nov. 4

Super Y League players who missed out on reaching the 2016 North American Finals with their club team still have a pathway to Bradenton, Florida.

The 2016 Guest Player Pool opened on Monday, giving players on teams that did not receive a bid to the SYL Finals a chance to travel to the event and participate on a different team. In order to be eligible for selection by a SYL Finals-participating team, players must add themselves to the pool by filling out a simple form. Teams can then request for a player from the Guest Player Pool to join them for the SYL Finals in December.

“We are pleased to bring back the Guest Player Pool for its second year of operation,” SYL Director Dan Lohrs said. “The North American Finals is a great event and something we hope all players can experience, so we look to build off last year’s success by continuing to provide opportunities to compete for all Super Y League players.”

In 2015, 115 SYL players, including 12 from the 2015 National Player Pool, registered for the Guest Player Pool. Starting on Oct. 3, SYL Finals-participating teams can select up to six players from the pool, and the selected players will be notified via email if a team has decided to add them. The last day teams can select players from the Guest Player Pool is Nov. 4*.

A total of 120 teams will take part in the SYL Finals from Dec. 9-13 at IMG Academy in Bradenton. Group play will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while the semifinals kick off on Monday. The finals will cap off the five-day format on Tuesday.
