Evolve With Us

The Super Y League always remains at the forefront of US Soccer developments and initiatives in order to provide its member clubs the best platform to compete and develop elite players. The Super Y League will be the first American youth league to implement the new groundbreaking initiatives laid out by US Soccer for the 2017 Super Y League season.

Below are the two key initiatives laid out by US Soccer to be mandated by August of 2017:

  • The small-sided standards are focused at players from the U-6 to U-12 age groups. The field dimensions and number of players on the pitch will increase in size from 4v4 to 7v7 to 9v9 as players age, up until they reach the U-13 age group and begin to play full 11v11 matches. Birth year registration should be based on the year in which the season ends. For example, if a season begins in the fall of 2017 and ends in the summer of 2018 (ex.2017-2018), the players would be registered based on their age in the year 2018. (Note – The SYL U-12 age group will begin using the 9v9 format, during the 2017 season.)
  • Birth-year registration calendars will now align with the start of the calendar year and run from January to December.
